Central Standard Time (CST) is the second easternmost time zone in the United States and is also used in Canada. It covers all or parts of 20 states in the US and three provinces or territories in Canada. It is also used in Mexico and Central America.
In parts of that zone (20 states in the US, three provinces or territories in Canada, and several border municipalities in Mexico), the Central Time Zone is affected by two time designations yearly: Central Standard Time (CST) is observed from the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March.
There are a total of five states that observe Central Time in some cities and Eastern Time in others. Those states are Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee. An additional six states observe Central Time; however, parts of each of these states also observe Mountain Time.
