Children ages 12 through 17 traveling alone are considered Young Travelers (YTs). A Young Traveler must have the maturity and capability to travel alone, including but not limited to checking in, passing through the security checkpoint, boarding, deplaning, and claiming luggage.

This can be a driver's license, U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, or other acceptable forms of identification as listed by TSA.

29 sty 2024 · As an adult over the age of 18, you need a valid government form of ID to board a plane in the U.S., according to the TSA. If you’re flying internationally, you will need to show your passport or passport card. If you are taking a domestic flight, you will need to show your driver’s license or another form of government ID with your photo on it.
Traveling with Children. All passengers are required to undergo screening. However, TSA has developed modified screening procedures for children who appear to be 12 years old and younger. TSA officers will consult parents or the traveling guardian about the child’s screening.
2 wrz 2023 · Southwest Airlines requires children ages five through 11 traveling without an accompanying passenger age 12 or older to travel as unaccompanied minors (UMs). Children aged 12 or older cannot travel as unaccompanied minors and must travel independently though there is “young traveler” policy for kids aged 12 through 17 (more on that below).
