The Beatitudes are Christ’s own description of Chris-tian character, His description of the Christian’s privileges, fruit, and work. They are His authoritative standards! The first step to receiving a glorious and eternal inheritance in Christ, the Kingdom of Heaven, is to be poor in spirit.
