The Spooner Excursion, also known as the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad (WGNR) is a tourist line which operates excursion trains over former Chicago & North Western Railway trackage between Spooner and Springbrook, Wisconsin.
The train ride starts around 5:30 returning you to the station around 8:00. Your train ride comes with a nice dinner in a private car. Dinner starts with an appetizer, moves on to dinner rolls, soup, entree and dessert. Coffee and water come with your meal.
26 paź 2013 · We took a lazy drive from Minneapolis through Lanesboro (antique store stop), Taylors Falls (beer stop), Turtle Lake (casino stop) and Shell Lake (no stop this trip) to Spooner for the bed & breakfast & dinner Groupon deal on this Great Nothern Railroad and we had an enjoyable time.
While dining, the train travels through some incredibly beautiful ares of Wisconsin’s North woods. After dinner, the guests head to the lounge cars to relax and get to know each other. At approximately 7 pm the train backs up and returns to the depot arriving at about 8 pm.
