31 lip 2018 · Is there a way (preferably in Excel) to calculate the distance (based on lat, lon) between two lists of points? My end goal would be, for example, to have a list of Starbucks and a list of McDonald's, and then show the nearest neighbor, if you will.
1 lut 2012 · Two methods come to mind: One is to somehow run a query through Great Circle Mapper and somehow fetch or store the resultant web page. You could then parse that to get the distance. GCM queries are in the URL so it is easy to generalise them.
A: Ed Williams' Aviation Formulary has an example which calculates this distance from LAX to JFK as 2144 nm while the Great Circle Mapper says LAX to JFK is 2151 nm . This comes from several simplifying assumptions in the Aviation Formulary example:
