16 mar 2024 · After teasing his interest in the idea ever since the release of District 9, Blomkamp revealed that development in the District 10 script had officially begun and that he would be co-writing the sequel with Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell. Director Neill Blomkamp first hinted at a District 9 sequel in 2017.

This contains spoilers for District 9. On its surface, District 9 is a story about racial oppression. The concept is based on the story of the real District 6. But I think it is worth taking a closer look at the Prawns and their reasons for coming to Earth. Let's begin with a few facts:
Prawns, unlike humans, eat almost all of their food raw. They appear to be primarily carnivorous, as per the large amount of meat dealers in District 9. They also have a very strong liking of cat food, which has an effect on the aliens that is similar to the effect of catnip on cats.
District 9 is a 2009 science fiction action film directed by Neill Blomkamp in his feature film debut, written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, and produced by Peter Jackson and Carolynne Cunningham. It is a co-production of New Zealand, the United States, and South Africa.
