21 wrz 2023 · We will be visiting family in Paris and want to go a few places in Italy, so it would make sense to take a night train somewhere in between (Salzburg--> Paris, for example). The only overnight train I can find is OBB NightJet and while I always take reviews with a grain of salt these are hard to ignore.

The accommodations on the train were exactly what I wanted and the hotel and transportation arrangements all went without a problem.
PKP Intercity is the major intercity (long distance) train operator in Poland. There are some other companies offering similar connections,but there are not too many of them (e.g. Koleje Mazowieckie with their direct summer trains from Warsaw to Kraków and Gdańsk).

To first respond to your final question, the cheapest way to get around Europe can be by train, motor coach or budget airline, depending on the route. To keep on the subject of trains, the cheapest method is generally to book specific trains several weeks in advance to take advantage of the "saver" fares offered on most European railways.
