nope not true. Flight prices are based on fare buckets, different number of seats available at different fare levels. If you keep searching fares, depending on how far you get in the booking process it will reserve one of those seats (hold time varies, maybe a few minutes or hours), if the availability was low at the time, searching will 'fill up' those cheaper seats.

Depends on the route, if You are going only to Asia, those are the best websites, nobody has better prices than momondo or something. To Africa and Europe with KL/DL/SN/LH/AA/BA/UA there are hidden fares.
Some of the bigger flight search engines offer a worldwide map of the cheapest recently found flights. You just specify a date range, or in some cases, whole months. The bigger your departure region, the better your options, normally. I've found that most of the good deals relevant to me can be found there. Reply reply.
