Using the same ration idea: A 100mm lens is used to image an object 10 feet long. The image of this object at the focal plane is 20mm long.

12 paź 2021 · All models of the iPhone 13 feature a 120° field of view and a 13 mm lens equivalent. This is actually a wider angle than a GoPro camera which tops out at 16 mm with Superview in camera (but can be extended to a 155˚ FOV with the optional Max lens mod that can be attached).
With the sensor size, image pixel resolution, focal length, and known subject size, you can back-calculate (well, estimate) the distance between the camera and subject (assuming that the subject is reasonably parallel to the camera sensor plane).

22 wrz 2021 · The lens has been upgraded from an F1.6 to a wider F1.5 aperture, bringing in 14% more light. The larger sensors, bigger entrance pupils, and faster apertures mean a significantly bigger camera module on this year's 13 Pro ( right) compared to last year's 12 Pro ( left ).
