12 cze 2023 · Bowling Ball Beach is located at the northern end of Schooner Gulch State Beach. If the tide is out it’s hard not to notice the large round rocks that resemble bowling balls as you walk along the beach.
To reach Bowling Ball Beach, continue to follow the Moat Creek Trail south along the bluff edge. After about a mile, the trail drops down to a beach at Ross Creek. At low tide, you can continue to walk south on the beach to reach the famous “bowling balls” of Schooner Gulch State Park.
The most unusual beach in Mendocino County is Bowling Ball Beach, just about three miles south of Point Arena on Highway One. Before you go, check for low tide because it’s only then that you’ll see the so-called bowling balls, lined up like rows of Terracotta Warriors.

The entrance to the trail leading to Bowling Ball Beach is on Highway 1, about 3 miles south of the city of Point Arena, at Schooner Gulch Road. The state beach offers southbound roadside parking, marked by a sign that will read “Park facing South only.”
