Blockley is a village, civil parish and ecclesiastical parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Moreton-in-Marsh. Until 1931 Blockley was an exclave of Worcestershire.
One of the larger Cotswold villages and largely unspoilt, midway between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, Blockley was a main centre of the silk industry in the 18th and 19th centuries with the silk mills using the waters of the brook which runs through the centre of the village.
22 kwi 2024 · Situated about four miles north-west of Moreton-in-Marsh, Blockley is a fascinating Cotswold village rich in history. Until 1931, Blockley was an exclave of Worcestershire. Nowadays, the civil parish includes the hamlets of Draycott, Paxford and Aston Magna, along with the deserted hamlets of Northwick and Upper Ditchford.
Blockley is accessible from the A44 via the B4479 from Bourton on the Hill. You can also follow the road from Chipping Campden, through Broad Campden and up the hill into the village. There is no train station in the village but the nearest one is in nearby Moreton in Marsh.
Blockley is now a very peaceful charming village with its mill stream winding its way through the bottom of the valley. With many very enjoyable walks leading from the village and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Blockley has much to offer the holidaymaker.
