The Arnolt-Bristol was built in Filton as a powered chassis; the body was fitted by Bertone in Italy, and only final assembly, fitting of options, prep work and (occasionally) paint and upholstery changes were done in Warsaw, Indiana.

Arnolt ordered 140 chassis from Bristol, and bodyshells from Bertone, with the aim of selling the finished cars for $4500 through his dealership. Bertone had been given free rein to come up with a design that marked the Arnolt-Bristol out from the crowd – and boy did it deliver.
S.H. Arnolt’s largely hand-built, race-winning car was called the Arnolt-Bristol. It had a proven British chassis and exotic-looking Italian body from the Bertone auto design outfit’s new designer/aerodynamicist Franco Scaglione, who became famous for designing Alfa Romeo’s wildly futuristic B.A.T. concept cars.
