There is a ceiling vent that blasts cold air from the galley above these two rows and the crew cannot turn it off. I was freezing during an 11 hour flight.
Now AA applied the same magic on its new 787-800 squeezing one extra seat in for each economy row, 3-3-3 hence 9 seats per row, comparing to JAL 787-800's 2-4-2, 8 seats per row in economy. Most of those additional seats come from a jump from a 3-3-3 arrangement, with up to 18.1-inch seat width, to 3-4-3 with a width of 17.25 inches. That's a noticeable decline, especially when it comes to shoulder space.
