17 mar 2024 · A few days ago, I flew American Airlines’ Boeing 777-200ER business class on the nine hour flight from London (LHR) to Miami (MIA). This is the same trip where I had flown TAP Air Portugal’s Airbus A330-900neo business class in the other direction across the Atlantic. While I’ll have a full trip report soon, in this post I wanted to share some initial impressions of the experience.
EVA was one of the first airlines to offer a premium economy section, branded Elite Class on the Boeing 777s. Many people consider the small premium in ticket cost worth it for this "poor man's" version of Business Class. Coach has above average legroom, about two inches better than the legroom in many other airlines' Economy Class.

My roundtrip journeys between San Francisco and Hong Kong were both operated on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, and the configuration was 2-4-2.
