I don't know how it is where you work but over here, ZIP code can be specific to several meters, so that should be precise enough. Then use this method to calculate the distance between two ZIP codes:
Right-click on your starting point. Select Measure distance. To create a path to measure, click anywhere on the map. To add another point, click anywhere on the map.
