If you're just using the search engine, not their browser, and not logging into a Yandex account, you should be fine. Assigning yandex.ru and/or yandex.com to a separate container in Firefox, as with Facebook, would help too, keeping it isolated from data from other sites you visit.

If you do not like using Russian products, then you shouldn't use Yandex. If you want more privacy respecting browsers, you shouldn't use either Yandex, or Chrome, or Edge, and switch to open source browsers like Firefox or Brave.
If search engine (which is different from the browser), then you're straight up lying — it is only really popular in Russia (60%). In Belarus and Ukraine it is considerably popular due to many years of Russian influence (20% and 10% accordingly).
I can rarely find anything I'm actually looking for on duck duck go or brave search, same goes for AOL and yahoo. I regularly go through the first 4 or 5 pages and have to fallback to google. Yandex search translated from russian is generally the next best at finding content.

Yandex is pretty good for reverse image search. Probably because you're in a country where it's one of the default ones: https://github.com/chromium/chromium/blob/main/components/search_engines/template_url_prepopulate_data.cc. Yandex is the Russian google.
