Ryan Bamford was named the seventh permanent Director of Athletics in the history of University of Massachusetts athletics on March 24, 2015. In his first nine-plus years at the helm, Bamford's impact and influence on the progress and growth of UMass athletics have become beacons for the university and Amherst communities.

Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach Jeff Matthews has been behind the Amherst bench since 2012. The 2023-24 season marks his twelfth year at Amherst and eleventh season (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Amherst has posted a winning record in every season of Matthews' tenure and has won two of the last three NESCAC Championships.
Jeff Smith joined the University of Massachusetts Athletics Department in July, 2001 and was recently promoted into his current role as Deputy Athletic Director for External Operations in November, 2021.
2023 completed Jen Hughes's 20th season at the helm of the Amherst College women's soccer program which has become one of the premiere teams in NCAA Division III. Since taking the reins in 2004, Hughes has led Amherst to a 245-66-36 overall record, five NESCAC titles, and 13 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
Kyle Smith ’14, a former standout attack for the University of Massachusetts, returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in the summer of 2021 and was promoted to associate head coach in the summer of 2024. He enters his fourth season on Greg Cannella’s staff in 2025.
