In July 1999 and January 2000 Kasparov was officially rated 2851 Elo rating, which has only ever been surpassed by one other player, Magnus Carlsen in 2013. For a period in the early 1990s, Kasparov was over 2800 and the only person over 2700 was Anatoly Karpov.
