Centrifugal fans use the kinetic energy of the impellers to move the air stream, which in turn moves against the resistance caused by ducts, dampers and other components. Centrifugal fans displace air radially, changing the direction (typically by 90°) of the airflow.
23 sty 2023 · Centrifugal fans differ from the widely used axial fan design. Centrifugal fans are based around a rotating wheel of blades called impellers, which drag the entering air or gas into a circular motion. It is then pushed out of the fan by the centrifugal force created by the rotation.
In an open inlet centrifugal fan, air enters the impeller radially. The motion of the blades adds rotational momentum to the flow, increasing the velocity of the flow in the tangential direction.
Centrifugal fans from ebm-papst are available with forward and backward-curved blades. The quiet-running centrifugal fans with forward-curved blades are supplied as motor-impeller combinations or with a scroll housing. The centrifugal fans with backward-curved blades have a free-running impeller and do not require a scroll housing.
Sometimes called "squirrel cage" fans, have blades with leading edge curved toward the direction of rotation. Because these fans generate high airflow at relatively low speeds, these require a relatively accurate estimate of the system airflow and pressure demand.
1 lip 2008 · On some electric motors, the internal and/or external fans can be fitted in either direction. Frequently repair companies do not properly identify and mark the fans and this results in fans...
The centrifugal fans allow 16 diff erent orientation positions: 8 clockwise RD and 8 anticlockwise LG. The direction of rotation is defined looking at the fan from the drive (motor) side. For adjustable fans the possible positions of the door are those indicated in the table below.
