7 paź 2022 · The trail begins at the end of the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to Santa Elena Canyon. The trail crosses Terlingua Creek, takes you to the river’s edge inside the canyon and continues farther winding among large boulders until it ends abruptly where the canyon wall meets the river.
Hikers are surrounded by lush riparian vegetation and 1,500-foot towering vertical cliffs of solid limestone. The trail ends where canyon walls meet the river. Take a lunch and enjoy the scene. Terlingua Creek can be impassable after rains, flash floods, or periods of high water, effectively closing the trail.
