The real numbers 0 and 1 are commonly identified with the natural numbers 0 and 1. This allows identifying any natural number n with the sum of n real numbers equal to 1.
Example: Multiplying by zero. When we multiply a real number by zero we get zero: 5 × 0 = 0; −7 × 0 = 0; 0 × 0.0001 = 0; etc! It is called the "Zero Product Property", and is listed below.

By convention, we place positive real numbers to the right of zero and negative ones to the left. Zero is neither positive nor negative. The arrow pointing to the right indicates that the numbers increase in that direction.
The Real Number Line. The Real Number Line is like a geometric line. A point is chosen on the line to be the "origin". Points to the right are positive, and points to the left are negative. A distance is chosen to be "1", then whole numbers are marked off: {1,2,3,...}, and also in the negative direction: {...,−3,−2,−1} Any point on the ...
24 cze 2021 · Zero is a real number. Pi, Euler’s number, and phi are real numbers. All fractions and decimal numbers are real numbers. Numbers which are not real numbers are either imaginary (e.g., √-1, i, 3 i) or complex (a + bi). So, some algebraic expressions are real [e.g., √2, -√3, (1+ √5)/2] and some are not [e.g., i2, (x + 1) 2 = -9].
26 maj 2011 · In mathematics, real numbers are thought of informally as quantities identified with points on an infinitely long gapless straight line. The number zero is one such point; positive numbers are to its right and negative numbers to its left.
