In 1959-1960, Fender gradually replaced tweed on most of its amps with a light pinkish-brown rugged textured vinyl called Tolex. A new dark brown Tolex replaced the light brown version in 1961. The original brown Tolex era ended in 1963.

6 lip 2012 · What I do is get a piece of Tolex (MOJOTONE.COM sells Tolex to match your amp). Lay the new Tolex over the damaged area. Place a quarter on top of it and, using a razor knife, cut out a circle in the new and old Tolex. Don't cut too deep or the wood won't allow you to make a circle.
